Case Study:
Dry-air convey, quick changeover, incorporate existing equipment, regrind return
Key Points:
This was a plant that had numerous existing dryers that were still useful, but they needed to replace a number of dryers and attempt to incorporate the useful equipment into the new system. They were also changing from a labor intensive system that required manual hopper loading in some cases from remotely located dryers. This caused moisture problems and added labor costs.

Beside the press grinding is also used, and the regrind can be reused in the final product. The current manual system was cumbersome, and they were looking to incorporate the regrind reuse into the new system as well.

Problem
Conair designed a system that incorporated existing useful dryers and drying hoppers, even though they were competitive brands. The required Conair components for these units were custom fitted to the existing equipment, and included combining Conair loaders, blenders, purge valves, and system controls with the old units.

A "reverse regrind" system was incorporated to automatically bring regrind back to the drying area for precise gravimetric blending with virgin and feeding into drying hoppers.
